๐ Aiden Brewington, a Broome High School sophomore and Machine Tool Technology III student, has just wrapped up his impressive gear box project! This challenging endeavor called for the skilled use of Metal Lathes and Milling Machines. Aiden meticulously crafted 21 pieces, including 4 intricate gears. ๐ฒ That's a grand total of 148 teeth, cut one by one on the milling machine. ๐ช After all that hard work, the moment of truth arrived, and guess what? The inaugural fundraiser by the DMTC Educators Rising chapter raised over $200 for Lahaina wildfire relief. Intro to Teaching/EDU 201 students organized a bake sale, reading personal accounts of those affected beforehand. They baked and sold 16 dozen cupcakes and 6 dozen brownies to faculty and students, ensuring all proceeds go directly to the cause. Mr. Bertrand, your leadership in organizing this fundraiser for Lahaina wildfire victims is greatly appreciated.

As part of a mini unit on school environment and culture, Introduction to Teaching 1 students are showing their school pride by planting flowers at the Daniel Morgan bus port. They will also be responsible for maintaining the flowers, which should last until next Spring. Introduction to Teaching 1 students are learning how to incorporate different STEM activities in the classroom. Students observed a demonstration of an activity that guides them through creating a simple rocket using paper and a straw, then practiced recreating the activity themselves. Introduction to Teaching students utilized an Ender 3 3D Printer to create roses for the DMTC Teacher of the Year, Caroline Gunnells, and Staff Person of the Year, Mary Beth Hayes.
