Training for the Real World

Our law enforcement students were practicing the use-of-force continuum, with a focus on verbal commands and de-escalation. The new Law Enforcement Training Simulator gives students the opportunity to work through realistic, real-life scenarios and put their training into practice in a safe environment. Building confidence, communication, and sound decision-making before it matters most.

Applications are now open for the 2026–2027 Connect Ambassador program!
Connect is a youth health initiative of the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Foundation. They bring together and support organizations serving Spartanburg County teens by increasing awareness of available resources, strengthening community partnerships, and assessing adolescent health issues.
Connect Ambassadors play a critical role in this work. These Spartanburg County high school students share youth perspectives, promote health resources, advocate for their peers, and help shape youth-focused projects. This is a paid opportunity that allows students to build leadership skills while making a meaningful impact in their community.
Their goal is to create a robust and engaged group of youth with representation from all seven Spartanburg County school districts. Please share this opportunity with high school students in your schools, programs, and networks.
Applications will remain open through August 17. Selected applicants will be invited to an interview beginning the week of August 17. Following the interviews, they will select and notify members of the 2026–2027 Connect Ambassador cohort.

I have attached a recruitment flyer that you can share through newsletters, social media, and direct outreach to students. This opportunity will count as an internship for the purposes of our EDGE work-based learning efforts!
Please let Delilah Goode know if you have any questions.

Exciting news at DMTC!

Daniel Morgan Technology Center (DMTC) has been awarded a $100,000 grant through the Timken Foundation Domestic Grant Program, providing a major investment in the future of welding and advanced manufacturing education for DMTC students.

The grant, awarded through the Timken Foundation US-Based Plant Community Grant initiative, will enhance hands-on learning opportunities by supporting the growth of DMTC's welding and advanced manufacturing programs. The funding will help ensure students have access to industry-relevant equipment and training that prepare them for high-demand careers in the skilled trades and advanced manufacturing sectors.

Timken's Duncan facility played an important role in supporting the application. Tim Boosz, Manager of the Timken Duncan Distribution Center, provided a letter of recommendation highlighting the importance of investing in workforce development and career and technical education.

"This generous investment from the Timken Foundation represents more than funding," said Dr. Nikki Honeycutt, Director of Daniel Morgan Technology Center. "With the support of the Timken Foundation, we will be able to provide students with enhanced learning experiences using industry-aligned equipment and technology that reflect today's manufacturing environment. These opportunities will help students graduate with the skills they need to succeed in high-demand careers while also benefiting industry in Spartanburg County."

By providing students with access to modern equipment and industry-aligned training, Daniel Morgan Technology Center continues to create pathways to high-wage, high-demand careers while supporting the workforce needs of local and regional employers.

Daniel Morgan Technology Center serves high school students from Spartanburg School District Three and Spartanburg School District Seven through career and technical education programs designed to prepare students for college, careers, and life.

Thanks to the generous support of Harbor Freight Tools for Schools, students who completed all days of camp received a $250 stipend through grant funding.
🤖🚙 Robotics & Automotive Battery/Electric Vehicle (BEV) Camp
Students explored the future of advanced manufacturing through robotics and battery electric vehicle technologies. They also had the opportunity to visit Gestamp and BMW, where they experienced firsthand how robotics, automation, and BEV systems are transforming today's manufacturing workforce.
Thanks to a subgrant supporting the Automotive program, students who completed the entire camp received a $300 stipend, recognizing their commitment to learning and career exploration.
A special thank you to our generous partners for making these opportunities possible:
