Dinkins named Daniel Morgan Technology Center director  

Chris Dinkins, Director of the Fairfield Career and Technology Center, has been named the new Director of Daniel Morgan Technology Center, serving students from Spartanburg Districts Three and Seven.  Bill Price, current director, is retiring. 

Dinkins has been with Fairfield Career and Technology Center since 2012.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, a Master of Education in Leadership and Administration, and is currently working on a doctorate in Higher Education Leadership and Management Policy.

 Dinkins began his career in business and industry before joining Enoree Career and Technology Center as a business education instructor.  He served as assistant principal at Mauldin Middle School before moving to R.D. Anderson Applied Technology Center as assistant director. Dinkins then served as Director of the Academy for Career Excellence in Ridgeland.

 Kenny Blackwood, superintendent of Spartanburg School District Three, stated, “We are fortunate to have Mr. Dinkins serve as our Director of Daniel Morgan Technology Center.  He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position, and we are excited about the future growth of the Center under his leadership.”

 Russell Booker, superintendent of Spartanburg School District Seven, shared, “We look forward to working with Mr. Dinkins and leveraging the expertise he brings to this position. Chris will focus on building on our current strengths and advancing our goals to make Daniel Morgan one of the premier technology centers in South Carolina.”

 

Daniel Morgan Technology Center student selected for apprenticeship partnership

Will Brown, a Daniel Morgan Technology Center (DMTC) Welding completer, has been selected to participate in a Registered Youth Apprenticeship in partnership with IVI South and Apprenticeship Carolina. A completer is a student who has earned all of the required units in a state-recognized CATE program. IVI South engineers, designs, builds, and installs dust and fume collection systems in industrial settings.

Brown, the son of Kelly and Kenny Brown, is a rising senior at Broome High School.  During his high school senior year, he will work Monday through Friday at IVI South through the DMTC work-based learning program. Upon graduation, Brown may continue his apprenticeship with IVI as an adult.
